Below are the top ten Public Schools in Manhattan proper based on school environment, performance and the progress grades. We wanted to come up with a simple list that would help parents compare and contrast schools strengths and weaknesses. For me figuring out the public school system in the city was very cumbersome and I wanted to create an easier way to introduce other parents to this very large and somewhat convoluted school system. We compiled the most important statistics taken from different surveys and papers published by the DOE.

Great list – makes a lot more sense now, I think PS 87 should be in there, no?
I agree, great list! Pretty helpful for those like me searching for K schools. How about private schools?
PS 87 is not the greatest school! For some reason it has a good rep on the uws… Not sure why
Good list. I do think PS 87 was robbed! Didn’t Tatum Oniel send her kids there? If it’s good enough for an oscar winner, it’s good enough for me;). Just kidding, but I do think it’s a good school.
The Student Performance and School Environment both scored a C grade. Because of that we did not rate it as one of the top PS in Manhattan. I agree that it has a great reputation. I was surprised by the research.
Great Article on Public High Schools
